Code black response team

Busy emergency departments are highly stressful environments for staff, patients and visitors.Combative or abusive behavior presents an incredibly challenging role for nurses, doctors and security who need to possess a great deal of skill and sound decision making ability in tense situations.

Patients can wait for long periods to make way for more serious injuries and conditions. For clients or their loved ones this mounting frustration can often escalate into violent episodes whereby front-line staff such as nurses are in the firing line. This comprehensive workplace violence prevention program provides the skills and procedures to be taken by the response team in the event of abusive or assaultive behavior or violent incident occurring within the hospital workplace.

When staff are concerned about their own safety and the safety of others due to abusive or assaultive behavior, they are to initiate a Code Black.
